Tips

  1. Set the wind before racing — Setup → Wind → Point to Wind, bow into the breeze. The forecast is a fallback, and often well out at a lake or in a shoreline breeze.
  2. Mount the phone securely for heel and trim — a waterproof case on the centerboard trunk or a thwart works well.
  3. Try 5 Hz on short courses, then check the "Recorded at about … Hz" line afterwards; if it's still ~1 Hz, turn it back down. Keep the app in the foreground at high rates, and charge before racing.
  4. Text follows your iPhone's Text Size (Settings → Display & Brightness). Every label is at least 13 pt and grows from there.
  5. Browsing the Logbook costs nothing — GPS and the compass run only on the Sail tab, on the bow-alignment setting, and while a race is recording. On Logbook and Analytics the sensors are off.
